Lakhueen Jo Daro

Lakhan-jo-Daro, also known as Lakhueen-jo-daro is a well-known archaeological site in Sindh Province. It is situated in the Sukkur Industrial Area. It dates back to the time period of 5,500 to 7,000 BC. It is way older than the other archaeological site of Mohenjo Daro and is the 4th greatest ancient city ever to be discovered in the Indus valley Civilization. The archaeological site got very famous after the year of 2008. It was actually discovered in the time period of 1980s but was kept quite. The archaeological site is said to be very big and has hardly been 2-5 percent excavated. But also now several parts of the archaeological site lie in under lands where heavy industries are built. It is said to be almost 9,000 years old.

The archaeological site, which is located in the region of Sukkur District (around 100 kilometer away from the Mohenjo-daro site) on the right bank of Indus River, was excavated recently. During 2006, archaeologists and students of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) did excavations in this site. Excavations were also undertaken by Prof. Muhammad Mukhtiar Kazi of University of Sindh during the time period of 1996 and 2000.

Lakhan-jo-daro is situated near the Sukkur. Material cultural finds of this archaeological site demonstrate that it belongs to the Mature Harappan period. It covers a huge area in the form of few mounds.
